Merepoxine
Merepoxine is a jacobin-like pyrrolizidine alkaloid and an epoxide. Merepoxine is formed by the transformation of melensine under alkaline conditions, involving an SN2 reaction accompanied by elimination of hydrogen chloride (i.e., a chlorohydrin-like reaction) to form this epoxide.

Merepoxine and Merepoxine N-oxide (HY-N21956) are senecionine-type pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs)[1].
Merepoxine (0.6 ng per leaf; allowed to stand for 2 h after spraying) can be efficiently removed from the leaf surface of Jacobaea vulgaris merely by soaking in aqueous solution or weakly acidic aqueous solution for 20 s, with a recovery rate of over 95% in the first extraction[1].
