Plantaricin A
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Plantaricin A is an antimicrobial peptide that can be derived from Lactobacillus plantarum. Plantaricin A has a synergistic effect with Ciprofloxacin. Plantaricin A shows anti-microbial activity. Plantaricin A increases the membrane potential of S. aureus and the level of intracellular ROS. Plantaricin A inhibits the function of the efflux pump by binding it and altering the structure of MepA, NorA, and LmrS. Plantaricin A significantly relieves inflammation, and promotes wound healing. Plantaricin A permeabilizes cancerous rat pituitary cells[1][2].

Biological Activity
Plantaricin A (12.5 μg/mL, 12 h) enhances the activity of Ciprofloxacin (CIP) (HY-B0356) and Trimethoprim (HY-B0510) in ATCC 29213, which effectively inhibits the growth of S. aureus at sublethal concentrations[1]. Plantaricin A (12.5 μg/mL, 2 h) increases the membrane potential of S. aureus and the level of intracellular ROS[1]. Plantaricin A (12.5 μg/mL) exerts a synergistic effect with CIP in S. aureus by inhibiting the function of efflux pumps[1]. Plantaricin A (1-50 μM, 60 min) induces the cell death in the cancerous lymphoid Reh, Jurkat cells, normal B and T cells dose-dependently[2]. Plantaricin A (20-50 μM, 50 s) induces a rapidly developing membrane permeabilization followed by membrane disruption or cell lysis in PC12 cells[2].

Animal Model:8-week-old male BALB/c mice were inoculated with 109 CFU/mouse of S. aureus-NorA on the wound surface[1].
-
Dosage:12.5 μg/mL combined with CIP (4 μg/mL)
-
Administration:Daily applied to the surface of the wound for 7 days
-
Result:Showed significantly smaller and thinner scar tissues.
Decreased the level of TNF-α, IL-6, and CRP.
