(Rac)-sn-Glycerol 3-phosphate is a phosphorylated derivative of glycerol that is produced as an intermediate in the glycolysis pathway[1].
(Rac)-sn-Glycerol 3-phosphate binds to the α subunit of tryptophan synthase, regulates the synthesis of tryptophan through allosteric inhibition[1].
(Rac)-sn-Glycerol 3-phosphate provides microorganisms with advantages in environments lacking nutrients as the phosphorus, carbon and energy sources. (Rac)-sn-Glycerol 3-phosphate can be used for microorganisms cultivation[2].
(Rac)-sn-Glycerol 3-phosphate binds to metal ions and forms insoluble phosphate minerals. (Rac)-sn-Glycerol 3-phosphate can be used for in situ bioremediation to reduce environmental pollution[2].
