QPCT Protein, Human (sf9, His)

Cat. No.: HY-P76560
COA Handling Instructions

QPCT Protein synthesizes pyroglutamyl peptides, favoring N-terminal glutaminyl residue over adjacent acidic and tryptophan residues. It catalyzes N-terminal pyroglutamate formation, particularly [Glu-3]-amyloid-beta in APP peptides. In lab settings, it aids pyroglutamate formation in truncated amyloid-beta peptides. QPCT Protein may contribute to N-terminal pyroglutamate formation in peptides linked to amyloid-related plaque development. QPCT Protein, Human (sf9, His) is the recombinant human-derived QPCT protein, expressed by Sf9 insect cells , with N-His labeled tag. The total length of QPCT Protein, Human (sf9, His) is 329 a.a., with molecular weight of ~38 kDa.

Background

QPCT Protein is responsible for the synthesis of pyroglutamyl peptides, displaying a preference against adjacent acidic and tryptophan residues to the N-terminal glutaminyl residue, while showing minimal impact on chain length beyond the second residue. It also catalyzes the formation of N-terminal pyroglutamate. In laboratory settings, it facilitates pyroglutamate formation in truncated forms of APP amyloid-beta peptides, specifically [Glu-3]-amyloid-beta. QPCT Protein might also play a role in the N-terminal pyroglutamate formation of various peptides associated with amyloid-related plaque formation.

<1 EU/μg, determined by LAL method.

Reconstitution

It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 μg/mL in ddH2O.

Storage & Stability

Stored at -20°C for 2 years. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for longer (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
