Biological Activity
Description
SAA2/Serum Amyloid A-2 Protein, Mouse (His) is the recombinant human-derived SAA2 protein, expressed by E. coli, with N-6*His labeled tag.
Background
Serum amyloid A (SAA) is a family of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) related apolipoproteins in plasma, with three subtypes, SAA1, SAA2, and SAA3. SAA2 is mainly expressed and induced in the liver, and the SAA2 gene is regulated by pro-inflammatory factors IL-1, IL-6 and TNF-α. SAA2 is a major acute-phase protein that is highly expressed in inflammatory and tissue injury responses. SAA2 also plays an important role in HDL metabolism and cholesterol homeostasis. High levels of SAA2 have been linked to chronic inflammatory diseases, including atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer's disease and Crohn's disease. SAA2 may also be a potential biomarker for certain tumors[1][2][3][4].
