BAL-30072 is a siderophore-bearing monocyclic β-lactam antibiotic with antibacterial activity. BAL-30072 inhibits penicillin-binding proteins 1a, 1b, and 3, thereby disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis. BAL-30072 inhibits mitochondrial electron transport chain complex II and complex III, while also inhibiting glycolysis and mitochondrial fatty acid β-oxidation. BAL-30072 induces mitochondrial ROS production, cellular ATP depletion, reduces mitochondrial membrane potential, and triggers hepatocyte apoptosis via caspase-3/7 activation. BAL-30072 is a substrate of the hepatic uptake transporters OAT1 and OAT3. BAL-30072 can be used in research related to bacterial infections .

Lisavanbulin (BAL-101553) is the prodrug of the microtubule targeting agent Avanbulin (BAL 27862) (HY-106008). Lisavanbulin is a BBB-penetrant and orally active antitumor agent, especially in tumors that express high levels of end-binding protein 1. Lisavanbulin has ability to target tumor cell proliferation and affects the tumor microenvironment by reducing tumor microvasculature. Lisavanbulin is also a spindle assembly checkpoint activator. Lisavanbulin induces cell cycle arrest and subsequent death or aberrant chromosome segregation. Lisavanbulin can be studied in research for diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and glioblastoma .

Neurokinin Receptor

Inflammation/Immunology

Eprazinone can enhance lung function and arterial oxygen levels and can be used in the study of chronic bronchitis. Higher doses of eprazinone increased phospholipid levels and decreased neutral lipid content in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid, but had no effect on protein and cell levels in BAL. Eprazinone dose-dependently reduced short-circuit current (Isc), primarily by reducing chloride secretion at lower concentrations and affecting sodium and chloride transport at higher doses. Eprazinone may exert its anti-inflammatory effects by regulating BAL lipid composition and airway ion transport .

Integrin

Research Areas:

Inflammation/Immunology

GSK3335103 is an orally active non-peptidic αvβ6 integrin inhibitor with a pIC50 of 8 and a pKi of 9.96. GSK3335103 blocks αvβ6 integrin-mediated cell adhesion and TGF-β1 activation, induces integrin internalization, recycling and lysosomal degradation, attenuates TGFβ signaling and reduces collagen deposition. GSK3335103 decreases the level of pSmad2 in BAL cells and collagen deposition in lung tissues in a mouse model of pulmonary fibrosis. GSK3335103 can be used in research related to pulmonary fibrosis .
