Noscapine hydrochloride exerts its antitussive effects by activating sigma opioid receptors and is a non-competitive Bradykinin inhibitor. Noscapine hydrochloride disrupts microtubule dynamics, induces mitotic arrest and apoptosis. Noscapine hydrochloride possesses anticancer, neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory activities, and can crosse the blood-brain barrier .
