Naltrexone is an orally active, long-acting opioid receptor (opioid receptor) antagonist. Naltrexone blocks the euphoric effects of exogenous opioids and reduces alcohol craving by blocking opioid receptors (μ, κ, and δ) as well as opioid growth factor receptors.
