Cat. No.: HY-P10364 Purity: 98.69%
Handling Instructions Technical Support

Ubiquicidin (29-41) (UBI (29-41)) is an Antimicrobial peptide and infection-localizing agent. Ubiquicidin (29-41) acts as an infection-specific imaging agent and infection-targeting agent. Ubiquicidin (29-41) serves as an antibiotic efficacy monitoring agent, and its aggregation level in infections induced by Staphylococcus aureus is higher than that in infections induced by Escherichia coli.

Description

Ubiquicidin (29-41) (UBI (29-41)) is an Antimicrobial peptide and infection-localizing agent. Ubiquicidin (29-41) acts as an infection-specific imaging agent and infection-targeting agent. Ubiquicidin (29-41) serves as an antibiotic efficacy monitoring agent, and its aggregation level in infections induced by Staphylococcus aureus is higher than that in infections induced by Escherichia coli[1][2].

In Vitro

99mTc-labeled Ubiquicidin(29-41) binds preferentially to Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, with minimal binding to LS174T colon tumor cells and ACHN renal tumor cells[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

99mTc-Ubiquicidin (29-41) specifically detects various types of bacterial infections in rabbits, differentiates infections from sterile inflammation, and monitors responses to antibiotic treatment[1].
99mTc-UBI (29-41) (40 μg (10 MBq); intravenous injection; single administration) accumulates in the thigh muscle of rabbits infected with Staphylococcus aureus, with the average target-to-nontarget ratio peaking at up to 2.2 at 60 min post-injection[2].
99mTc-UBI (29-41) (40 μg (10 MBq); intravenous injection; single dose) accumulates in the thigh muscle of rabbits infected with E. coli, with an average target-to-nontarget ratio peaking at 1.7 at 60 min post-injection. This level is significantly lower than its accumulation level at S. aureus-infected sites[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: healthy immunocompetent rabbits (1.2-1.6 kg, average 1.4 kg)[2]
Dosage: 40 μg (10 MBq)
Administration: i.v.; single dose
Result: Showed visible accumulation at infected sites within 5-30 min post-injection.
Reached maximum mean T/NT ratio of 2.2 at 60 min post-injection.
Recorded highest individual T/NT ratio of 3.56 in one animal at 60 min post-injection.
Declined to mean T/NT ratio of 1.8 at 2 h, 1.7 at 3 h, and 1.5 at 4 h post-injection.\nShowed visible accumulation at infected sites within 5-30 min post-injection.
Reached maximum mean T/NT ratio of 1.7 at 60 min post-injection.
Recorded highest individual T/NT ratio of 2.45 in one animal at 30 min post-injection.
Had mean T/NT ratio of 1.2 at 5 min, 1.5 at 30 min, 1.4 at 2 h, 1.5 at 3 h, and 1.4 at 4 h post-injection.
Demonstrated significantly lower accumulation (P < 0.05) than at *S.
aureus*-infected sites at 60 min.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
