τ-Fluvalinate is an insecticide and in-hive miticide, with its mechanism involving interfering with nervous systems. τ-Fluvalinate binds to the open state of Varroa destructor (VdNaV1) and Apis mellifera (AmNaV1) voltage-dependent sodium channels, with EC50 values of 160 nM and 60 nM respectively. τ-Fluvalinate has higher affinity for AmNaV1, which causes sublethal toxicity to honeybees. τ-Fluvalinate can be applied for research on Varroa destructor infestation in honeybee colonies.

Description

τ-Fluvalinate is an insecticide and in-hive miticide, with its mechanism involving interfering with nervous systems. τ-Fluvalinate binds to the open state of Varroa destructor (VdNaV1) and Apis mellifera (AmNaV1) voltage-dependent sodium channels, with EC50 values of 160 nM and 60 nM respectively. τ-Fluvalinate has higher affinity for AmNaV1, which causes sublethal toxicity to honeybees. τ-Fluvalinate can be applied for research on Varroa destructor infestation in honeybee colonies[1][2].

In Vitro

τ-Fluvalinate (1 nM-10 μM) modifies heterologously expressed AmNaV1 channels with higher affinity (EC50 = 60 nM) and greater maximal effect than VdNaV1 channels (EC50 = 160 nM) in Xenopus laevis oocytes[2].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
