Biological Activity
2-Acetyl-5-methylfuran (0-5000 μg/plate) is not mutagenic in the Ames test using Salmonella typhimurium strains TA98, TA100, TA1535, TA1537, and Escherichia coli strain WP2uvrA[1].
2-Acetyl-5-methylfuran (0-1250 μg/mL) is non-clastogenic in the in vitro micronucleus test using human peripheral blood lymphocytes[1].
2-Acetyl-5-methylfuran is not photoirritating up to 1.5% in the Reconstructed Human Epidermis photoirritation study[1].
2-Acetyl-5-methylfuran (0.8-100 μg/mL; 2 weeks) inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis 90-221387 with an MIC of 322.58 μM[2].
