Background

Function
CD34 is a highly glycosylated type I transmembrane mucin-like glycoprotein and a surface marker of hematopoietic stem cells and hematopoietic progenitor cells. CD34 is mainly involved in stem cell adhesion, migration, self-renewal, and bone marrow homing, and participates in angiogenesis in vascular endothelial cells. CD34 is widely used in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, immunophenotyping of acute leukemia, flow cytometry sorting, and tumor microvessel density detection.
-
Subcellular Localization
Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein
-
Expression
Tissue_specificity:It is selectively expressed on hematopoietic progenitor cells and small vascular endothelial cells in various tissues. -
Isoforms & Post-Translational Modification
CD34 has 2 isomers: P28906-1: 40716 Da (predicted); P28906-2: 35011 Da (predicted).
Highly glycosylated;Phosphorylated on serine residues by PKC -
