Description

Bruceanic acid D is a quassinoid compound and cytotoxic agent that can be isolated from the xylem powder of Brucea antidysenterica. Bruceanic acid D specifically inhibits P-388 lymphocytic leukemia cells but shows no activity against human lung cancer cells and human colon cancer cells. Bruceanic acid D can be used in studies related to P-388 lymphocytic leukemia[1].

In Vitro

Bruceanic acid D (compound 5) exhibits cytotoxic activity against P-388 murine leukemia cells with an ED50 of 0.77 μg/mL, and does not show cytotoxicity against A-549 or HCT-8 cells at the tested threshold[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
