Biological Activity: Isovalerylcarnitine is a metabolite of leucine. Isovalerylcarnitine can specifically activate calpain in human neutrophils. Isovalerylcarnitine inhibits tumor cell proliferation and induces apoptosis. Elevated circulating levels of Isovalerylcarnitine are negatively correlated with reduced lung cancer risk[1][2][3].
