TMEM175 agonist 3 can be used in the research of Parkinson's disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and lysosomal storage diseases.

TMEM175 is a bifunctional channel protein on the lysosomal membrane with both proton and potassium ion permeability. It maintains lysosomal homeostasis and α-synuclein degradation, and its loss-of-function mutations significantly increase the risk of Parkinson's disease.
