Biological Activity
DSPE: Acts as a hydrophobic anchor, responsible for securely embedding the entire molecule into the membrane structure of the lipid nanoparticle.
PEG chain: Acts as a hydrophilic spacer arm, forming a hydration layer on the particle surface, reducing nonspecific adsorption and immune system recognition and clearance, and prolonging the carrier's circulation time in vivo.
Maleimide: A reaction interface located at the end of the PEG chain, capable of undergoing a specific Michael addition reaction with thiol-containing (-SH) biomolecules (such as peptides, antibodies, aptamers) to achieve targeting or tracking functions.
Cys-SKIFNIHPOSTP: The thiol group on Cys can react with Maleimide to form a stable thioether bond.
