Description

E-4441 is an orally active Antibacterial agent. E-4441 exerts broad-spectrum in vitro antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and aerobic bacteria. E-4441 exhibits protective effects against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections. E-4441 can be used in the research of systemic bacterial infections (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections)[1].

In Vitro

E-4441 (4 μg/mL) inhibits all anaerobic bacteria[1].
For 90% of Gram-positive bacterial isolates (Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Enterococcus faecalis), the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of E-4441 (18 h) ranges from 0.12 to 1 μg/mL[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

E-4441 (serial twofold doses; p.o.; single dose) exhibits in vivo protective activity against systemic Staphylococcus aureus HS-93 infection in mice, with an ED50 of 14.7 mg/kg following a single oral dose[1].
E-4441 (serial twofold doses; p.o.; single dose) exhibits in vivo protective activity against systemic Escherichia coli HM-42 infection in mice, with an ED50 of 3.0 mg/kg following a single oral dose, identical to the ED50 of ciprofloxacin[1].
E-4441 (serial twofold doses; p.o.; single dose) exhibits in vivo protective activity against systemic Pseudomonas aeruginosa HS-116 infection in mice, with an ED50 of 71.7 mg/kg following a single oral dose, efficacy comparable to Ciprofloxacin[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: HC:CFLP (male, ~25 g, intraperitoneal challenge with 5× minimal lethal dose of Staphylococcus aureus HS-93)[1]
Dosage: Serial twofold doses
Administration: p.o.; single dose
Result: Determined an ED50 of 14.7 mg/kg.
Animal Model: HC:CFLP (male, ~25 g, intraperitoneal challenge with 5× minimal lethal dose of Escherichia coli HM-42)[1]
Dosage: Serial twofold doses
Administration: p.o.; single dose
Result: Determined an ED50 of 3.0 mg/kg, matching the ED50 of ciprofloxacin.
Animal Model: HC:CFLP (male, ~25 g, intraperitoneal challenge with 5× minimal lethal dose of Pseudomonas aeruginosa HS-116)[1]
Dosage: Serial twofold doses
Administration: p.o.; single dose
Result: Determined an ED50 of 71.7 mg/kg, efficacy comparable to ciprofloxacin.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
