γ-secretase is a tetrasubunit intramembrane protease composed of presenilin, Nicastrin, APH-1, and PEN-2. It can cleave type I transmembrane proteins such as APP and Notch and participates in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease and the regulation of cell development signals.
