Description

Gibberellin A12 is a free C20-gibberellin, serving as a gibberellin biosynthesis intermediate and metabolite precursor. Gibberellin A12 exists in maturing Sechium edule seed testa, developing Pisum sativum seeds and Gibberella fujikuroi[1][2][3][4].

In Vitro

Gibberellin A12 is present as a free compound in the testa of maturing Sechium edule seeds, and is absent from the embryo and endosperm of these seeds[1].
Gibberellin A12 (0.064-1.0 mM MVA; 2-4 h) is synthesized from MVA by cell-free extracts from Cucurbita maxima liquid endosperm with an apparent Km of 0.4 mM MVA, achieving up to 7% incorporation of MVA into GA12[2].
Gibberellin A12 exists in developing Pisum sativum L. seeds, and can be enzymatically synthesized from mevalonic acid with definite specific activity and production efficiency[3].
Gibberellin A12 (0.2 μCi; 1-24 h) is rapidly and exclusively metabolized by cotyledons from 20-day-old Pisum sativum L. G2 seeds to 13-hydroxylated gibberellins[4].
Gibberellin A12 (0.2 μCi; 3-24 h) is slowly metabolized by seed coats from 20-day-old Pisum sativum L. G2 seeds to both 13-hydroxylated and non-13-hydroxylated gibberellins[4].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
