Description

Gluconasturtiin potassium is an orally active glucosinolate found in the roots of Brassica juncea and Brassica hirta. Gluconasturtiin potassium acts as a feeding activator for P. maculipennis larvae at low concentrations, while it exhibits toxicity to the larvae at high concentrations[1].

In Vivo

Gluconasturtiin (4-20 mg per 10 mL of 0.1 M glucose; added to the feed) potassium stimulates feeding in P. maculipennis larvae at low concentrations, but exhibits significant toxicity against fifth-instar larvae at 20 mg/10 mL (> 50% mortality)[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
