1. Metabolic Enzyme/Protease
  2. Carboxylesterase (CES)
  3. Human CES2 Enzyme

Human CES2 Enzyme is a carboxylesterase involved in drug metabolism and lipid homeostasis. Human CES2 Enzyme hydrolyzes triglycerides, cholesteryl esters and retinyl esters to regulate lipid metabolism and energy homeostasis. Human CES2 Enzyme improves glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity, reduces hepatic lipid accumulation, alleviates white adipose tissue steatitis, decreases plasma cholesterol levels, and reduces body weight and white adipose tissue weight. Human CES2 Enzyme can be used in the research of metabolic syndrome.

Description

Human CES2 Enzyme is a carboxylesterase involved in drug metabolism and lipid homeostasis. Human CES2 Enzyme hydrolyzes triglycerides, cholesteryl esters and retinyl esters to regulate lipid metabolism and energy homeostasis. Human CES2 Enzyme improves glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity, reduces hepatic lipid accumulation, alleviates white adipose tissue steatitis, decreases plasma cholesterol levels, and reduces body weight and white adipose tissue weight. Human CES2 Enzyme can be used in the research of metabolic syndrome[1].

In Vivo

Human CES2 enzyme is stably expressed via liver‑ and intestine‑specific transgenes in global Ces2 cluster knockout mice, and it rescues drug metabolism defects and reverses metabolic syndrome phenotypes[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: FVB/NRj mice (4-60 weeks old) with global Ces2 cluster knockout and liver- or intestine-specific human CES2 transgenic modification on Ces2-/- background[1]
Dosage: /
Administration: /
Result: Significantly reduced the elevated plasma AUC and tissue concentration of capecitabine in global Ces2 cluster knockout mice.
Alleviated fatty liver, adipositis, hypercholesterolemia, impaired glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity caused by Ces2 deficiency, but increased liver size, adipose tissue mass and total body weight (Hepatic).
Effectively rescued all metabolic syndrome phenotypes and even improved some indicators such as body weight compared with wild-type mice (Intestinal).

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
