FGR

FGR (Gardner-Rasheed feline sarcoma viral oncogene homolog), also called Src2, is a myristoylated Src-family tyrosine kinase named after the viral oncogene v-fgr of the Gardner-Rasheed feline sarcoma virus. FGR is expressed principally in myeloid lineage cells, including neutrophils, macrophages and natural killer cells. It transduces signals from Fc-gamma and integrin receptors and participates in the oxidative burst, chemotaxis, phagocytosis and macrophage activation. In endothelial cells and neutrophils, FGR contributes to transendothelial migration during inflammation. Elevated FGR expression and signaling characterize chronic myelomonocytic leukemia and some acute myeloid leukemias, where it supports leukocyte survival, and FGR-dependent signaling has been explored as a therapeutic vulnerability in myeloid malignancy.
