Mandelic acid ((±)-Mandelic acid), an alpha-hydroxycarboxylic acid, has been widely used as an intermediate of pharmaceutical and fine chemicals. Mandelic acid shows antimicrobial activity and has been used for the research of urinary tract infections and vaginal trichomoniasis.
