METTL3, refers to methyltransferase-like 3, is the sole catalytic subunit of N6-methyladenosine (m6A). METTL3 is involved in the post-transcriptional methylation of internal adenosine residues in eukaryotic mRNAs, forming m6A. m6A is the most abundant mRNA modification, so that METTL3 plays key roles in a variety of cancer types, either dependent or independent on its m6A RNA methyltransferase activity[2].
