Poly diallyldimethylammonium chloride 

Poly diallyldimethylammonium chloride is a cationic antimicrobial polymer with quaternary ammonium side chains, and it exhibits microbicidal activity. Poly diallyldimethylammonium (chloride) can be used in studies of bacterial and fungal infections (E. coli, S. aureus, C. albicans infections)^[1].

Poly diallyldimethylammonium (chloride) (3-5 mg/mL used for NP synthesis; corresponding to final incorporated PDDA concentrations of 1.53-3.24 mg/mL in formulations A3, A4, A5, B3, B4, B5) - containing PMMA/PDDA NPs maintain high long-term colloidal stability with zeta-average diameters of 230-328 nm, zeta-potentials of 62-69 mV, and low polydispersity, and their outer PDDA layer collapses in high-ionic-strength conditions^[1].
Free Poly diallyldimethylammonium (chloride) (0.003-1.5 mg/mL; 1 hour) potently kills Escherichia coli ATCC 25322 and Candida albicans ATCC 90028 with an MMC of 0.005 mg/mL and shows weak activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213 (MMC >0.5 mg/mL), while PMMA/PDDA NPs have reduced antimicrobial activity and increased hemolytic toxicity compared to free PDDA against S. aureus and C. albicans^[1].
Free Poly diallyldimethylammonium (chloride) (0.003-1.5 mg/mL; 1 hour) causes no hemolysis at concentrations that kill Escherichia coli ATCC 25322 and Candida albicans ATCC 90028, while PMMA/PDDA NPs induce significant hemolysis at concentrations effective against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213 and Candida albicans ATCC 90028^[1].
