Poly diallyldimethylammonium chloride 

Poly diallyldimethylammonium chloride is a cationic polymer with quaternary ammonium side groups, which exhibits excellent flocculation performance and thermal stability. Poly diallyldimethylammonium chloride also possesses microbicidal activity. Poly diallyldimethylammonium chloride can be used in studies on bacterial and fungal infections, as well as in research related to water treatment, textile printing and dyeing, papermaking chemical industry and other fields, with a wide range of applications^[1].

Poly diallyldimethylammonium chloride exhibits potent killing activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 25322 and Candida albicans ATCC 90028, with a minimum microbicidal concentration (MMC) of 0.005 mg/mL, while it shows weak activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213 (MMC >0.5 mg/mL); in comparison with free PDDA, PMMA/PDDA NPs have reduced antimicrobial activity against S. aureus and C. albicans, along with enhanced hemolytic toxicity^[1].
Poly diallyldimethylammonium chloride causes no hemolysis at concentrations that kill Escherichia coli ATCC 25322 and Candida albicans ATCC 90028, whereas PMMA/PDDA NPs induce significant hemolysis at concentrations effective against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213 and Candida albicans ATCC 90028^[1].
