Sialylglycopeptide is an orally active glycopeptide found in egg yolk. Sialylglycopeptide inhibits the binding of Salmonella enteritidis and Escherichia coli to intestinal cells, and protects mice from Salmonella infection. Sialylglycopeptide can be used in the research of Salmonella infection.

Biological Activity
Sialylglycopeptide (100-120 μM; 30 min pre-incubation with bacteria, 1 h incubation with cells) significantly inhibits the binding of Salmonella enteritidis to Caco-2 cells[1].
Sialylglycopeptide (120 μM; 30 min pre-incubation with bacteria, 1 h incubation with cells) weakly inhibits the binding of Escherichia coli K-88 to Caco-2 cells[1].
Sialylglycopeptide (0.1%; 20 h) does not induce inflammatory mediator production by J774.1/JA-4 macrophages nor inhibit zymosan-induced inflammatory mediator production in these cells[1].
