USF 2550A is a class of fungus-derived 2-pyran compound with DPPH free radical scavenging activity. USF 2550A binds to DPPH free radicals in organic solvents to form adducts, thereby achieving free radical scavenging; in acetate buffer, the formed adducts undergo degradation, and the degradation products can continuously scavenge free radicals. USF 2550A can be used in antioxidant-related research.

Biological Activity
USF 2550A (compound 1) exhibits dose-dependent DPPH radical scavenging activity, and its activity increases with prolonged reaction time[1].
USF 2550A reacts with DPPH radical in different solvent systems. It forms adducts to scavenge DPPH radical in chloroform, ethanol and isopropanol, while the generated adducts fully degrade in pH 5.5 acetate buffer and the degradation products continuously eliminate DPPH radical. After 8 hours of reaction, USF 2550A scavenges 1.5-1.8 equivalents of DPPH radical in organic solvents and 3.5-3.9 equivalents in pH 5.5 acetate buffer[1].
