Biological Activity
A sequential whole-cell biocatalytic cascade using baker's yeast followed by recombinant E. coli BL21(DE3) cells co-expressing BdADH2 and BdBVMO5 (1 mg mL-1 1-phenylpent-1-en-3-one; 16 h bioreduction, 5 h biooxidation) produces 2-phenylethyl propionate at a yield of 77% after 5 h of biooxidation, with 2-phenylethanol as a minor side product[1].
