3,4-Dimethylpyrazole phosphate (3,4-DMPP) is a nitrification inhibitor and microbial community regulator, whose activity is dose- and soil pH-dependent. 3,4-Dimethylpyrazole phosphate inhibits ammonia monooxygenase, ammonia-oxidizing bacteria, as well as ammonia-oxidizing archaea and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria. 3,4-Dimethylpyrazole phosphate alters the community composition of prokaryotes, fungi and ammonia-oxidizing bacteria. 3,4-Dimethylpyrazole phosphate reduces nitrate leaching, nitrous oxide emission and soil nitrate accumulation, and enhances nitrogen use efficiency and crop yield in agricultural production. 3,4-Dimethylpyrazole phosphate is applicable to agriculture-related research.

Biological Activity
3,4-Dimethylpyrazole phosphate exhibits dose-dependent persistence in acidic and alkaline loamy cambisols; its persistence is stronger in acidic soils than in alkaline soils; it inhibits nitrification in a dose- and soil pH-dependent manner; it selectively inhibits ammonia-oxidizing bacteria in alkaline loamy cambisols, whereas ammonia-oxidizing archaea in both acidic and alkaline loamy cambisols are only inhibited at high doses[1].
3,4-Dimethylpyrazole phosphate (1.54–450 mg/kg dry soil, treated for 14 and 35 days) at high doses selectively decreases the abundance of Nitrobacter in both acidic and alkaline loamy cambisols, while low doses boost the gene abundance of denitrifying bacteria and raise the quantities of total prokaryotes, fungi and Thaumarchaeota in alkaline loamy cambisols[1].
3,4-Dimethylpyrazole phosphate (applied at 2.32-23.2 mg DMPP per kg dry soil; on days 1, 7, and 14 post-treatment) inhibits nitrification and potential ammonia oxidation in grassland sandy loam supplemented with NH4+-N; it reduces the cell-specific nitrification activity of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria, ammonia-oxidizing archaea, or both[2].
3,4-Dimethylpyrazole phosphate (0.385-0.96 mg 100 g soil-1; 0-5 weeks) inhibits nitrification of swine manure-derived NH4+-N in Limburgerhof loamy sand in a concentration-dependent manner[3].

This protocol yields a clear solution of ≥ 5 mg/mL (saturation unknown).
Taking 1 mL working solution as an example, add 100 μL DMSO stock solution (50.0 mg/mL) to 900 μL 20% SBE-β-CD in Saline, and mix evenly.
Preparation of 20% SBE-β-CD in Saline (4°C, storage for one week): 2 g SBE-β-CD powder is dissolved in 10 mL Saline, completely dissolve until clear.
