Biological Activity
The structure of PEG-OPSS comprises two key components that work synergistically:
o-Dithiopyridine (OPSS): Capable of reversibly undergoing disulfide exchange reactions with thiol-containing molecules (-SH), such as cysteine ??residues, thiolized peptides, or proteins, thereby establishing stable disulfide bonds.
PEG chain: Acting as a hydrophilic spacer, it forms a hydration layer on the particle surface, reducing nonspecific adsorption and immune system recognition and clearance, thus prolonging the carrier's circulation time in vivo.
