Agathalic acid is an antibacterial agent. Agathalic acid exhibits moderate activity against Gram-positive bacteria, but is inactive against Gram-negative bacteria and fungi. Agathalic acid can be used in research related to Helicobacter pylori infection.

Biologische Aktivität
Agathalic acid (1 mg/mL; 3-5 days) exhibits weak anti-Helicobacter pylori activity against strain NCTC11637 (disc-MIC = 1 mg/mL) and no activity against strains NCTC11916 and ATCC43504 at concentrations up to 1 mg/mL[1].
