14293-44-8
Chemical Structure
Xipamide
- CAS No.: 14293-44-8
- Formula:C15H15ClN2O4S
- Molecular Weight:354.81
IUPAC Name: 4-chloro-N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)-2-hydroxy-5-sulfamoylbenzamide
InChIKey: MTZBBNMLMNBNJL-UHFFFAOYSA-N
SMILES: O=C(NC1=C(C)C=CC=C1C)C2=CC(S(=O)(N)=O)=C(Cl)C=C2O
Biological Activity: Xipamide is an orally active carbonic anhydrase (CA) inhibitor and Na+/Cl--potassium cotransporter inhibitor, with diuretic and antihypertensive effects. Xipamide reduces NaCl reabsorption by inhibiting the Cl-/NaCO3- anion exchanger, promoting potassium and magnesium excretion while increasing calcium reabsorption. Xipamide is cleared primarily via the renal route and causes a transient decrease in glomerular filtration rate under specific conditions. Xipamide can be applied in research related to cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, advanced renal failure, and cirrhosis with ascites[1][2].
