Biological Activity: 5-Methyl-DL-tryptophan is an orally active amino acid derivative with anti-inflammatory signaling effects. 5-Methyl-DL-tryptophan inhibits TLR4/MyD88 signaling and NF-κB activation/phosphorylation, reduces IL-6/IL-1β/TNF-α, and decreases the p-p65/p65 ratio. 5-Methyl-DL-tryptophan inhibits anthranilate synthase (Ki = 13 μM). 5-Methyl-DL-tryptophan inhibits bacterial growth. 5-Methyl-DL-tryptophan can be used in research on ulcerative colitis[1][2][3][4][5][6][7].
