Iotrolan

Iotrolan is a non-ionic contrast agent. Iotrolan induces Apoptosis. Iotrolan decreases glomerular filtration rate and renal perfusate flow, increases urine flow, and does not significantly decrease fractional sodium reabsorption. Iotrolan (0-30 min) in the isolated perfused rat kidney produces a maximum GFR decrease of -24.7% and a maximum renal perfusate flow decrease of -21.7%, while increasing urine flow without a sustained fall in fractional sodium reabsorption^[2].

Others

Iotrolan (18.75-150 mg iodine/mL; 1-24 h) exerts direct cytotoxic effects on LLC-PK1 proximal renal tubular cells, reducing MTT conversion to 41% at 75 mg iodine/mL and to 41-50% at 98.5 mM^[5].
