Testosterone/BSA, a conjugate of Testosterone (HY-113415) and bovine serum albumin (BSA), acts as a nuclear transporter and cytoplasmic accumulator. Testosterone/BSA can enter the nuclei of rat testicular spermatocytes, spermatids and rat liver endothelial cells, while the antigenicity of BSA remains intact. Testosterone/BSA accumulates in the cytoplasm of rat hepatocytes in granular form. Testosterone/BSA can be used to investigate the membrane-initiated or non-genomic activities of steroid hormones.

Testosterone/BSA (1 mg; i.v.; single dose) enters the nuclei of rat testicular spermatocytes, spermatids, and liver endothelial cells while retaining BSA antigenicity^[1].

Detected FITC fluorescence (indicating intact BSA antigenicity) in the nuclei of spermatocytes and spermatids in some rat testicular seminiferous tubules.
Detected FITC fluorescence in the nuclei of rat liver sinusoidal endothelial cells.
Observed no fluorescence in the nuclei of rat liver hepatocytes, hepatic stellate cells, or Kupffer cells, though granular fluorescence was seen in the cytoplasm of some hepatocytes.
