4α-Hydroxycholesterol
Based on 1 Customer Validation
4α-Hydroxycholesterol is an isomer of 4β-Hydroxycholesterol (HY-124265). 4α‑Hydroxycholesterol is an endogenous plasma oxysterol that fails to activate the LXRα and LXRβ nuclear receptors. 4α-Hydroxycholesterol shows no obvious cytotoxicity in mouse oligodendrocytes and does not cause mitochondrial depolarization, lysosomal destabilization, excessive superoxide anion production, cytokine secretion, or cytoskeletal depolymerization. The production of 4α‑Hydroxycholesterol is independent of CYP3A enzymes, and it is often measured alongside 4β‑Hydroxycholesterol as a reference oxysterol for CYP3A biomarker studies.
