GLYAT - glycine-N-acyltransferase Gene

Homo sapiens

Also known as CAT; GAT; ACGNAT

Gene ID: 10249 | Gene type: protein coding

About GLYAT

Cytogenetic location: 11q12.1 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 11:58,708,757-58,731,943 (from NCBI)

This gene has 6 transcripts (splice variants), 227 orthologues and 4 paralogues. Biased expression in kidney (RPKM 86.1), liver (RPKM 53.7) and 1 other tissue.

Summary

The glycine-N-acyltransferase protein conjugates glycine with acyl-CoA substrates in the mitochondria. The protein is thought to be important in the detoxification of endogenous and xenobiotic acyl-CoA's. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
