Nox1 - NADPH oxidase 1 Gene
Also Known as MOX1; NOH1; NOH-1; NOX1a; Nox-1; GP91-2; NOX1alpha
Species: Mus musculus
About Nox1
This gene has 5 transcripts (splice variants), 126 orthologues, 5 paralogues and is associated with 10 phenotypes. Broad expression in frontal lobe adult (RPKM 2.), cortex adult (RPKM 1.8) and 16 other tissues.
Summary
This gene encodes a subunit of the NADPH Oxidase enzyme, which is a membrane-bound, multisubunit protein. This complex catalyzes the transfer of electrons from NADPH to molecular oxygen to produce superoxide or hydrogen peroxide and may have a role in antimicrobial killing and cell signaling. This protein binds Other subunits in order to produce superoxide. In mouse, deficiency of this enzyme may be associated with changes in blood pressure. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2013]
