Thymolphthalein is a phthalocyanine dye with electrochemical activity that can serve as an acid-base indicator, appearing colorless under acidic pH conditions and blue under alkaline pH conditions. Thymolphthalein acts as a signal molecule in co-assembled AMP/TP nanoparticles (NPs) for the visual and colorimetric detection of Escherichia coli. Thymolphthalein can form a non-conductive porous polymer coating via electropolymerization.

生物活性
Thymolphthalein (10 μM; 10 potential scans) electropolymerized under optimized conditions forms a porous, high-surface-area layer on MWCNTs/GCE that enhances electron transfer and generates a sensitive voltammetric response to thymol[1].
Thymolphthalein (2 mg bacitracin) co-assembles with bacitracin and BSA to form stable, membrane-binding AMP/TP NPs with a particle size of about 19-181 nm, as confirmed by TEM and FTIR analysis[2].
