CLEC2B

CLEC2B encodes the activation-induced C-type lectin (AICL), a type II transmembrane receptor mapped within the natural-killer gene complex on chromosome 12. Like its close relative CLEC2A, AICL is expressed mainly on NK cells and a subset of T lymphocytes, and its transcription is upregulated upon lymphocyte activation. The protein carries a single extracellular C-type lectin-like domain and a short cytoplasmic tail lacking canonical signaling motifs, so it may act through associated adaptor proteins. Its precise ligand and physiological function remain to be fully established. Recombinant CLEC2B/AICL supports research into NK-cell receptor biology and lectin-mediated immune regulation.
