Description

L-α-Lecithin (soybean) is an orally active phospholipid. L-α-Lecithin (soybean) increases the bioavailability of Lutein in plasma and eyes of Rattus norvegicus, enhances plasma Glutathione peroxidase activity, and regulates fatty acids in plasma and tissues[1].

In Vivo

Dietary L-α-Lecithin (soybean) (10% of the diet; p.o.; ad lib; 4 weeks) enhances lutein bioavailability in plasma and eyes by up to 31.3%, elevates plasma glutathione peroxidase activity, increases malonaldehyde levels in plasma, liver, and eyes, and alters plasma, liver, and eye lipid and fatty acid profiles in male Wistar rats[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Wistar rats (male, 42 ± 2 g)[1]
Dosage: 10% of the diet
Administration: p.o.; ad lib; 4 weeks

Increased eye lutein levels by 31.3% compared to control.
Showed no significant difference in liver lutein levels compared to control.
Increased plasma glutathione peroxidase activity by 21.4% compared to control.
Increased plasma malonaldehyde levels by 29% compared to control.
Increased liver malonaldehyde levels by 47.2% compared to control.
Increased eye malonaldehyde levels by 10.1% compared to control.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
