Mayumbine competitively inhibits the binding of ³H-flunitrazepam to GABA_A/BZD receptors in rat cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and cerebellar membrane preparations, reducing binding affinity (K_d) but not altering the maximum number of binding sites (B_max), and was identified as a partial agonist^[1].
