Sampsonione O
Sampsonione O is a neuroprotective agent. Sampsonione O is present in Hypericum species. Sampsonione O exerts neuroprotective effects against L-glutamic acid (HY-14608)-induced injury. Sampsonione O can be used for research on neuronal injury[3]4].

Biological Activity
Description
In Vitro
Sampsonione O (1 h) exhibits significant activity against L-glutamic acid (HY-14608)-induced neuroblastoma SK-N-SH cell injury, but shows no activity against oxygen-glucose deprivation-induced injury[3].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only. Further protocols information, click here.

Result:Increased the survival rate of SK-N-SH cells to 80.90% (mean OD 0.729) in the L-glutamic acid model.
Resulted in a survival rate of 57.80% (mean OD 0.904) in the oxygen-glucose deprivation model.

Neurotoxicity Study
This protocol assesses in vitro neurotoxicity by combining neuronal viability, mitochondrial/metabolic activity, neurite outgrowth, and optional neuronal network function readouts. Calcein-AM or resazurin/PrestoBlue readouts estimate viable or metabolically active cells; βIII-tubulin immunofluorescence detects neuronal morphology and neurite networks; TMRE detects mitochondrial membrane potential; and MEA recordings detect functional changes in neuronal network activity.
