Estriol (Oestriol), an orally active estrogen, is a ERα and ERβ agonist. Estriol is a potent GPR30 antagonist in estrogen receptor-negative breast cancer cells. Estriol can ameliorate disease severity through immunomodulatory mechanisms that decrease tissue inflammation. Estriol has powerful proconvulsant effects .

Octocrylene is an organic ultraviolet (UV) filter that absorbs mainly UVB radiation and shorter UVA wavelengths. Octocrylene acts as a partial agonist of PPARγ, which alters the gene transcription profile of lipid metabolism enzymes. In addition, Octocrylene is cytotoxic and genotoxic to human skin fibroblasts and mediates the biosynthesis of estrogens such as estriol in zebrafish larvae, while affecting antioxidant pathways including glutathione transferase and peroxisomes .

Metabolic Disease

Beta-glucuronidase (bovine liver) is a glycoside hydrolase that hydrolyzes β-glucuronic acid and sulfate esters in urine and other biological fluids, thereby releasing β-glucuronides. Beta-glucuronidase (bovine liver) cannot effectively hydrolyze Estriol glucuronide. Beta-glucuronidase (bovine liver) can be used in studies related to systemic gangliosidosis .

Research Areas:

Endocrinology

16a-Hydroxydehydroisoandrosterone (16α-Hydroxy-DHEA) is a metabolite of the endogenous steroid hormone dehydroepiandrosterone. 16α-hydroxy Dehydroepiandrosterone is formed from dehydroepiandrosterone via 16-hydroxylation by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoforms CYP3A4 and CYP3A5 in adult human liver microsomes, as well as by fetal recombinant CYP3A7. It is a precursor to fetal estrogens, including estriol.

Infection Inflammation/Immunology

16-Epiestriol (16-epi-Estriol; 16β,17β-Estriol) is a natural stereoisomer of estriol and an anti-inflammatory agent that targets UGT. The Ki values of 16-Epiestriol against human UGT1A10 and UGT2B7 are 98.1 μM and 162 μM, respectively. As a glucuronidation substrate, 16-Epiestriol can be modified at the 3-OH, 16-OH and 17-OH sites by various UGT enzymes; in liver microsomes, the modification mainly occurs at the 16-OH and 17-OH sites, while reactions take place at all three sites in intestinal microsomes. 16-Epiestriol acts on the phase II inflammatory process by blocking edema mediated by prostaglandins and leukocyte infiltration. It lacks glycogenic activity or any effect on blood glucose levels, and serves as an important candidate molecule in the research of inflammatory diseases .

Metabolic Disease

Estriol 3-glucuronide (Estriol 3-β-D-Glucuronide) sodium salt is a metabolite of Estriol. Estriol 3-glucuronide sodium salt competitively inhibits the hydrolysis of 4-methylumbelliferyl-β-D-glucuronide (4Mu-GlcU). Estriol 3-glucuronide sodium salt is a substrate for hydrolysis by Klotho-human IgG1 Fc protein (KLFc) .
