14-Hydroxystearic acid
14-Hydroxystearic acid is a hydroxy fatty acid and oleogelator that forms gels in mineral oil. 14-Hydroxystearic acid acts as a thickener component in high-temperature synthetic polymer greases. 14-Hydroxystearic acid is used in research on the preparation of smart supramolecular soft materials and greases.

Biological Activity
Description
In Vitro
14-Hydroxystearic acid readily forms a gel in mineral oil[1].
14-Hydroxystearic acid (2%-4%; 3 days) forms oil-based gels in high-permeability cores and produces a residual resistance factor[2].
14-Hydroxystearic acid undergoes saponification with lithium hydroxide in the saponification reactor to form a high-temperature grease thickener[3].
