Biological Activity
In the early stages of apoptosis, phosphatidylserine (PS) flips from the inner to the outer side of the cell membrane. Annexin V is a protein that specifically binds to PS; this binding process depends on calcium ions (Ca2+). 5X Annexin Binding Buffer provides the ionic environment for this binding.
