6-Methoxy-4-methylcoumarin is a 4-methylcoumarin derivative with an antitumor activity. 6-Methoxy-4-methylcoumarin activates melanin synthesis in B16F10 melanoma cells. 6-Methoxy-4-methylcoumarin is a pigmentation stimulator, and can be used for the study of skin conditions such as vitiligo.

Biological Activity
6-Methoxy-4-methylcoumarin (25-400 μM; 72 hours) demonstrates a survival rate of 67.95% at 200 μM and 90.38% at 100 μM. 6-Methoxy-4-methylcoumarin significantly stimulates melanin production in a concentration-dependent manner at 25, 50, and 100 μM. 6-Methoxy-4-methylcoumarin enhances tyrosinase activity in B16F10 cells, subsequently stimulating melanin production[1].
6-Methoxy-4-methylcoumarin (25-100 μM; 4 hours) inhibits ERK and AKT phosphorylation, which leads to the upregulation of MITF and TRP proteins. 6-Methoxy-4-methylcoumarin activates GSK3β phosphorylation, reduces β-catenin phosphorylation, and stimulates melanogenesis via the GSK3β/β-catenin pathway[1].
