Acetylvaline is an amino acid derivative that belongs to the N-acetylated amino acid family. Acetylvaline is detected in low levels in the urine of healthy individuals, but significant abnormal excretion is observed in the urine of individuals with maple syrup urine disease (MSUD). Acetylvaline can be used to detect MSUD.
