  2. Fungal Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS)
  3. Antifungal agent 160

Antifungal agent 160 is a cytochrome bc1 complex inhibitor with activity against Alternaria solani, Gibberella zeae, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis. Antifungal agent 160 impairs ATP synthesis, suppresses ATPase activity, induces ROS bursts, compromises plasma membrane integrity, and suppresses fungal growth. Antifungal agent 160 can be used for the research of fungal infection.

Description

Antifungal agent 160 is a cytochrome bc1 complex inhibitor with activity against Alternaria solani, Gibberella zeae, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis. Antifungal agent 160 impairs ATP synthesis, suppresses ATPase activity, induces ROS bursts, compromises plasma membrane integrity, and suppresses fungal growth. Antifungal agent 160 can be used for the research of fungal infection[1].

In Vitro

Antifungal agent 160 (compound G2) potently inhibits mycelial growth of Alternaria solani (EC50 = 0.05 μg/mL), Gibberella zeae (EC50 = 6.80 μg/mL), Verticillium dahliae (EC50 = 21.45 μg/mL), Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (EC50 = 17.37 μg/mL), Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis (EC50 = 21.33 μg/mL), and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (EC50 = 12.75 μg/mL)[1].
Antifungal agent 160 (24 h) exhibits low cytotoxicity toward HEK-293 (IC50 = 54.66 μM), RAW264.7 (IC50 = 47.88 μM), and MRC-5 (IC50 = 29.56 μM) mammalian cell lines[1].
Antifungal agent 160 (0.05-10 μg/mL; 12 h) inhibits cytochrome bc1 complex activity in Alternaria solani mycelia in a concentration-dependent manner, reducing activity by 77.4% at 10 μg/mL after 12 hours of treatment[1].
Antifungal agent 160 (0.05-10 μg/mL; 12 h) reduces ATP content and inhibits Na+-K+-ATPase activity in Alternaria solani mycelia in a concentration-dependent manner[1].
Antifungal agent 160 (0.05-10 μg/mL; 24 h) induces concentration-dependent intracellular ROS accumulation in Alternaria solani mycelia[1].
Antifungal agent 160 (5-50 μg/mL; 24 h) disrupts plasma membrane integrity of Alternaria solani mycelia in a concentration-dependent manner[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
