CD183
CD183 is the CD designation for CXCR3, the chemokine receptor encoded by CXCR3 that preferentially marks activated type 1 T cells and NK cells. Its ligands are the interferon-inducible chemokines CXCL9 (MIG), CXCL10 (IP-10) and CXCL11 (I-TAC), which recruit CXCR3-positive cells into sites of viral infection, allograft rejection and autoimmune inflammation. The receptor signals through Gαi to calcium flux and chemotaxis and exists in splice variants including CXCR3-B, coupled to angiostatic responses. CXCR3 expression is exploited in monitoring transplant rejection and in estimating Th1-type infiltration in inflammatory bowel disease and psoriasis, and the receptor is a target for antagonist development.
